Springfield Children's Choir

THE SPRINGFIELD CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The Springfield Children’s Choir is a major new initiative of the Springfield Choral Society, in partnership with District 186, the Salvation Army, and The Springfield Project. With this ground-breaking program, we are striving for the highest standards of accessibility and musical excellence, taking advantage of the universality of the voice: we all received our instrument at birth, free-of-charge. Designed as a zero-barrier experience, the SCC has no tuition cost and provides transportation from our target schools to rehearsals.

ELIGIBILITY

The Springfield Children’s Choir is focused on students of our target schools, determined in partnership with District 186, in proximity of the Salvation Army location. Any 2nd-5th grade student is welcome to submit the brief Application Form at any time, with the understanding that admission will only be granted if there are open spots not filled by our target schools.

About The Director

Wynton Gage is a classically trained vocalist, musician, producer, and educator. Born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, he attended Southeast High School where he became the 2018 “Poetry Out Loud” Illinois state champion.

After graduating from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music, he spent 2 years in Los Angeles, CA developing his craft as a producer and lyricist. Last year he returned to Springfield and now dedicates his time to the arts in Springfield as a music teacher, hoping to develop the next generation of young creatives in Springfield.
